General Meeting of the Villages Woodshop Club

Meeting called to order at 7:00PM

 

Mike Borfitz, President, led the pledge of allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

Introduction of new members and guests: – New members and visitors were welcomed and asked to introduce and tell a little about themselves.

Mike’s Announcements:

·         Mike gave examples of the VWC projects which were beneficial to the community.

Ø   Mike talked to a woman who was in immediate need of an urn as her husband was on the point of death. Mike talked to Alvin and between them they were able to come up with an urn. The club here helped to relieve some of the burden of death from this woman’s shoulders.

Ø   A local church, Pastor Jim Devine thanked the members of the VWC for helping them produce some of the furniture needed for their church.

Ø  Members of the VWC decorated Christmas trees and presented them to both Special Olympics and The Baker House.

Ø  The Lake School at Howey-In-The-Hills for special need children was given toy by our club. The school showed a heartwarming video of the children that received the toys.

Ø  A special thanks to Ron Gammon for his efforts to make the toys group happen.

General Announcements:

·         Dennis Colombo gave a talk on sketch up. He gave a demonstration of the free version on how you can use it to design your woodworking projects. Sketch up is a 3d modeling program which runs on windows 10.

Show and tell –

·         John Herman showed a light house he produced. The light house had a working light.

·         Steve Yovan showed a bowl.

·         Lee Gilpin presented jewelry items made on a scroll saw.

·         Ray Roberts presented an item which he called wood wizard on a log.

·         Harry McIntyre presented a platter which was covered with an incandescent paint.

 

50/50 Drawing:  The club retained $79.00 and paid out $55 one member returned his prize to the shop.
