General Meeting of the Villages Woodshop Club

Meeting called to order at 7:00PM

 

Mike Borfitz, President, led the pledge of allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

Introduction of new members and guests: – New members and visitors were welcomed and asked to introduce and tell a little about themselves.

Mike’s Announcements:

·         Monthly Department reports. Please take the time to read it. It will give you a good idea of what is happening in the shop.

·         Pens for troops we have turned 999 pens for troops.  Elliot and everyone associated with pens should be very proud of themselves.

General Announcements:

·         Dan McMahon

Ø  Gave a presentation on the noise study he prepared for the shop. He compared our shop to OSHA standards.

Ø  Dan suggests when using the shaper people should be wearing hearing protections.

Ø  The club provides ear protection which will protect your hearing.

Ø  To use the hearing protection, Roll the foam down and pull up on your ear then insert the protector into your ear cannel.

Ø  If you wear hearing aids it is suggested that you use muffs.

 

·         Steven Yovan gave a talk on Monitor duty and the needs which we will have when we open the new shop.

Ø  We are going to have to make changes in order to cover the monitory duty for both shops. Steve and his committee are looking into our needs and will give a suggestion of what is required to cover the shop.

Ø  We are also going to have training for all members at both shops as the machinery will be different

Open floor to questions:

·         A question was asked on how much we will have to spend to cover new equipment at the new shop. Mike presented a figure of $300,00 to cover everything.

 

Show and tell –

·         Stephen Yovan presented a spool holder he made for his wife. He also presented 2 bowls.

·         Skip Banks presented an Adirondack bread knife and a large colander.

·         Erick Lundberg presented stained glass windows that he has salvaged from around the world.

 

50/50 Drawing:  The club took in $51 and. Prizes were - $17, $17, $17.
