Officers’ Reports

Chairman Report presented by Mike Cromwell:

·         A motion was presented by John Warner stating that it will no longer be necessary to review admitting 20 new members to the Village Woodworking Shop each month. The motion was seconded by Judi Meyers. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

·         Mike Cromwell asked the members of the board to please express what you are thinking and vote no if you do not agree with the presented motion.

·         Mike Cromwell opened for discussion (1) the idea that the BOD Meetings should be open to the membership of the VWC and (2) that somewhere we post the financial reports.

o   A motion was presented by Harm Borfitz that the BOD Meetings are open to any member of the VWC. The motion was seconded by John Warner and passed by unanimous voice vote.

·         The new shop will not need monitors until the September/October 2020 time frame. With this in mind, we should be able to continue with 3 members per session.

o   A motion was presented by John Warner that the number of un-exempt sessions for monitor duty the following year be placed at 3. The motion was seconded by Judi Meyers and passed by a voice vote of 8 to 1. (Alvin Corenblum voting against the motion.)

·         Mike Cromwell would like to see new members who are certified in September and pay dues for September be covered through the next fiscal year. Mike felt this would increase the number of new members who would be willing to take certification classes in September; as they would not have to pay dues for 2019 and then again in October pay dues for the 2020.

o   A motion was presented by John Scott that members who were certified and paid dues for September be credited for the following fiscal year. The motion was seconded by Bob Bell and passed by unanimous voice vote.

·         Ann Bell presented a report showing those members of the VWC who will be exempt from monitor duty for the year 2020.

o   John Scott presented a motion that the exemptions presented by Ann Bell’s Report be approved as presented. The motion was seconded by John Warner and approved by unanimous voice vote.

·         Mike Cromwell presented for discussion that dues for October 2020 fiscal year be set at $150.00 and not increased to $200.00.

o   Harm Borfitz made a motion that dues for new members to join for the 2020 fiscal year not be raised to $200.00 but be left at $150.00. The motion was seconded by John Scott and pass by a voice vote of 5 to 4. (Voting in the affirmative: Mike Cromwell, Judi Meyers, John Scott, Harm Borfitz, John Warner) (Voting against: Bob Bell, Alvin Corenblum, Steve Yovan, Glenn Croteau)

President’s Report presented by Mike Borfitz.

·         The Christmas Party date has been set as December 14, 2019.

·         New shop update:

o   June/July 2020 we should be able to start to furnish and equip the new shop. September/October 2020 open to members.

·         Waiting list – The number of new members applying to join the VWC is equal to the number of members being certified because of this the list still stands at 404.

·         Broken Window – We are still on the lookout for the person who broke the window in the shop.

·         Generous acts/Generous Donations. – Rik Peirce has put in innumerable hours working on the design of the second shop. John Scott has a longtime friend who lives in California and was interested in our toy program. John sent him some kits, designs and instructions and his friend in turn sent the club a check for $1,000.00.
