1)    Call to Order: Mike called the meeting to order at 7PM

2)    Pledge of Allegiance and Silent Time - As always, please remain standing to offer up prayers and thoughts for those in our Club who need kind thoughts, prayers or just your consideration. Please also keep Hans Zassenhaus in your thoughts as he faces surgery this coming week.

3)   Membership and Visitor Tally – Introduction of new members. There were 4 new members who introduced themselves.

We are a little less than half way through 2015.  Our membership stands at 847. We have welcomed 56 new members so far in 2015.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to talk to a new couple.  It is so nice to hear that they have signed up for classes and are also seeking out instruction on Utube – making the most of their membership!

Even though, it’s our “slow time”, 98 guests visited our facility in the past month.  Just a piece of trivia, we have had 834 guests in 2015!

4)    Vending Machine – Just a reminder – the vending machine has an array of goodies.  Check them out.  If for any reason, you lose your money, make sure you inform the front desk where you will receive a refund!

5)       Officers for 2016 – As I mentioned at the last meeting, Anne Bell is chairing the Nomination Committee.  She is still entertaining suggestions to fill the three board positions and the officer positions.  You may have heard through the grape vine that a couple of people have thrown their hats into the ring…….. but, that’s exactly what it is – they’ve proffered their names, but the field is still open.  Think about it.  John Herega and I are here to help you with the in’s and out’s of leading “the best darn club in The Villages”…………… so, take a deep breath and dive in!

6)    Department Reports – Before we move into department reports and videos, I take great pleasure (and I sincerely mean that) in announcing that we now have a manager for the Information Technology (IT) department!  Paul Porter has agreed to assume this position.  He comes with a boatload of experience, and the patience to make good things happen. He also has a wonderful wife willing to help out. Besides that, he’s just a nice guy!  Please join me in giving Paul a round of applause!

a)    IT – Having made Paul’s introduction, I now turn to him to update the membership on the status of the IT efforts.

Paul as asked that all the old files on the server that have not been used in three years be deleted. All old files can be deleted and archived.  Anyone can see Hans, Ed or Paul to retrieve.

The Mentor program is going well, there are 55 members signed up to help present and new members with questions.   There were 5 new members certified last week.  There is one waiting and Dick said it was nice seeing the new members using the shop. monitors need retraining every two years.  The Monitors are doing a good job. Dick recommends that everyone check out the monitor film before doing their monitor duty to refresh their memory.  Some things have changed and the film brings you up to

f)      Shop Administration – Dave Adamovich  Should you have need for the large sander and Dave or Grumpy are not there, you can leave the project on a cart next to the sander with specific instructions and one of the men will take care of the project the first thing in the morning.  There should be a white board that you can write on.  John Herega also as a key to the sander.  The new drum sander has been a big help with the segmented bowls.

g)     Toys– Conway Williams/Ron Gammon In Conway’s absence, let me read to you the update he sent me: “The Toy Department Team (both the Elves and the Painters) had another very successful month.  Together we produced another 732 toys in the month of May and shipped an additional 269 toys to our clients.  That means that our year to date production stands at 3431 with 2983 toys shipped year to date.  To put this in perspective that’s 1935 more toys than we produced last year at this time…. or said another way we have produced more toys at the end of May this year than we produced through the month of September in 2014.  This means we should produce well over 6000 toys this year. I want to thank all the team members for their help in achieving this success!

In September we will start the display on the square at Sumter Landing.  Ron Gammon has several buckets of coins taken from the Millennium  Mall. He is asking for some volunteers to sort thru them.  The silver can be salvaged and that money goes to the toy department.  Contact him if you can help with this project.

h)    Urn Project – Tom Miller:  We are still ahead in this project. No new Urns are needed at this time. Mike explained the Urn Project to the new members.
