General Meeting of the Villages Woodshop Club

Meeting called to order at 7:00PM

 

Mike Borfitz, President, led the pledge of allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

Introduction of new members and guests: – New members and visitors were welcomed and asked to introduce and tell a little about themselves.

Mike’s Announcements:

·         Second shop will go thru its first official process of approval with the Sumter Landing Community Development District Board.

·         Mike went over the many things that special projects does for the community.

·          The Keys to the shaper and the track saw will be kept in the maintenance department. There is a Maintenance person available on all shifts if you need the keys.

·         Mike pointed out that the member’s need to be more attentive to the vacuum system. If you are doing something that creates a lot of saw dust tell the monitors.

·         People who think that they would like to be on the Board of Directors please see Frank Giaccone.

General Announcements:

·         Lowell Sundermann gave a quick update on the CNC, the laser epilog and Corel Draw.

·         We are looking for volunteers to work on pens for the troops.

·         Harm Borfitz presented to the membership the changes to the bylaws. The changes have been published on the VWC web site as of September 15 for all to review.  He went thru every change showing old to the new.

·         Section 9.2 of the bye laws states a quorum is not needed to approve the changes to the bylaws. The changes can be approved with a 2/3 majority vote of the members present. This overrides 6.2.1 which states a quorum is needed for any vote. Under 6.2.1 a quorum would be 75 people.

·         A motion was made and seconded. The motion was passed to accept the rules as modified by a majority with one exception; Scott Miller voting in the negative.

Show and tell –

·         John Canale presented a turn table inlayed with various woods.

50/50 Drawing:  The club took in $149 and retained $109.00. Prizes were - $20, $20, $20 and $15. Alvin donated his winnings back to the club.
