EOC Meeting

April 12, 2016

Purpose: To serve as a forum to communicate matters pertinent to the administration and usage of the VWC shop and to identify opportunities to work together within the management team for the overall good of the club. 

* Follow up from 3/8/16 meeting.

* Status of Stubby Lathe order – John Herega the lathe is somewhere between Miami and The Villages. Anticipates delivery within the next two weeks.  This lathe is to replace the oldest lathe in the shop, which will be put for bid and sold with one of the mini lathes.

* Management update

        * D. Adamovich – The $1559.00 new Grizzly Shaper is to be delivered on Thursday.  Cutter heads have been ordered for doing raised panels, as well as cut values for the vacuum system for the Shaper in the amount of  $1,090.43.  The new conveyor belt on the dual drum sander has caused the speed control to speed up the feed and a new part (under warranty) has been ordered for the speed controller.  The large sander valve, which slowly oscillates, has worn out and a new valve has been order, anticipated delivery day unknown.  Delta Drill Press spring broke, as result of normal wear, difficulty in getting part from Delta, working through a third party two get two new springs.

        * A. Bell – No report

        * B. Bell  – No report

        * B. Behrens – Per D.Adamovich  - A box has been built for video equipment. Bob is presently designing an overhead video support extension, which will extend 8ft., the estimated cost is $100 and the wiring will be done on Sunday.  Boxes are continuing to be built for the tool crib, to house all the tools.  Tools are being reorganized within the Tool Crib along with cabinets being built to store the tools. Bob Behrens is need of a credit card to purchase the consumable sold in the tool crib. Jim Spallone will see that he receives a credit card.  Bob Behrens has been given access to the data base system, so he can effectively manage the member storage bins. Bill Papas is training Bob on the data base system.  Bob has asked that a notice be sent via the newsletter, that no wood with bark be kept in the storage bins.  Hans will add this to the newsletter.

        * M. Borfitz-IT - Will Riveria and Joe Busa, who have Access experience, will be working with Dick Hartley, as his back up/support.  John McGowan and John Scott who have hardware background will be working with Bill Pappas, as his back up/support.   The computers will be slowly transitioned to Window’s 10.  Anne will be testing the Window’s 10 with the data base at home before upgrading Window’s to the front desk computers.

        * J. Herega - Safety – Will discuss the misuse of air hoses for cleaning at the General meeting.  A new video has been made on how to sharpen turning tools.  Apparel order forms are not being given to him instead he is getting little notes for apparel orders. The order forms are kept in the Apparel white binder at the front desk. Members need to complete the forms.

        * B. Mathews – Not in Attendance

        * B. McGinnis – Carvers continue to have issue with bugs in their cabinets. Bill asked that carving area be kept free of clutter and clean. The carving area is the face of the Club when we have visitors.

        * J. Spallone - Requested manager’s bring any concerns, solutions and suggestions to the EOC meetings to discuss verses giving departmental updates, which they are to provide at the General Membership meeting following the EOC meeting. 

        * C. Williams – As of the end of the month 1574 toys have been made and 1232 have been shipped with a donation value of $8820.00.  Toy department received two large truckloads of oak from a member’s widow (Mrs. Nelson).  The oak is of furniture quality and will be sold in the Lumbar Shed and proceeds to go the toy department.

* S. Yovan – Kevin Vanscoy reported all is well in the lumbar department.  

        * H. Zassenhaus – Special Projects sales of pre-made items in 2016 to date is 691 items that sold for $4,489.10.  Special projects submitted in 2016 to date is 194 of which 13 were cancelled and 4 are on hold.  162 projects have been completed resulting in 309.35 hours worked, $862.35 in material used and donations of $3,401.05.  Hans will be meet with Jim Spallone to select a date for the Special Projects Building cardholders and slant boards.  

* Items for future discussion - Video Taping and Dual Drum Sander proper use video.
