Club Board of Directors Meeting

 

February 22, 2018

 

Call to Order

A board of directors meeting of The Village Woodshop was held on February 22, 2018 at 704 Oak Street The Villages Florida.  It was called to order at 7:00 PM and was presided over by John Herega, Chairman, with Byron Porter Jr., secretary. A quorum was met and established.

Voting members in attendance included:

John Herega, Sandra Moraco, Conway Williams, Bob Bell, Glenn Croteau, Harm Borfitz, Mike Cromwell, John Scott

 

Members not in attendance included: Alvin Corenblum

 

Guests in attendance included:

Byron Porter Jr., Anne Bell, Jim Spallone, Mike Borfitz

 

Approval of Previous Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the previous January 25, 2018 meeting was made by, Conway Williams seconded by, Harm Borfitz and unanimously approved by all and any additions and/or corrections

 

Officers’ Reports

 

Chairman Report was presented by John Herega.

·         Harm Boritz will have the responsibility to examine and propose changes to the VWC By Laws.

·         Advisor to the chair will not be filled

·         Freeze On New Members – Charts on Monthly Shop Attendance was presented and discussed. Chart will be kept up and improved and used as a tool to determine when new members will be allowed to join the VWC.

 

President Report was presented by Mike Borfitz

·         Waiting List: 60 interested candidates. Next month we will need to review numbers to see if we should accept new members.

·         IT Committee: Keypad and door lock for the side door was received and tested successfully. Will purchase hardware for the other door.

·         Urns for Veterans: Urns have been standardized to improve assembly.

·         Tools mistaken for free: Standardized practice for incidents of this type needs to be implemented. Minutes accepted as revised. Motion to approve Harm Borfitz seconded by Conway Williams passed by vote.

 

Vice President Report was presented by Jim Spallone

·         No Report

 

Treasure Report Presented by Jim Spallone for Doug Parks

·         Presented Balance Sheets for Month of January. (see Hand Out)

·         Lumber Exp. overage is a timing issue. December costs were billed in January.

·         Question on Facility Maintenance’s over budget may be caused partially by improper expensing.

·         Outside printing and copying overage is re-signing.

·         (Total Income for Month – Total Expenses = Profit/Loss) $20,379.77 - $18.479.30 = $1,900.38

·         Motion to approve the treasure report was made and seconded. Passed by vote.

·         The current Profit and Loss Statement is posted in the back office.

 

Office Administration Presented by Anne Bell

·         Sub-list for monitors. Discussion on how to best increase coverage.

·         Monitor duty not enough subs to cover no shows. Need solution.

 

Shop Administrator Presented by Glenn Croteau

·         Storage was discussed.

·         Free material has been moved and will be discarded after a week.

·         Special Project Room cleanup will take care of itself.

·         Clean up day still on point.

·         More shop vacuum cleaners needed.

 

Safety Committee Presented by John Herega for Harm Borfitz

·         Safety procedures for all instructors should be emphasized to better educate the general membership.

 

Toys Presented by Conway Willians

·         Toys on the square sales of $345 plus donations of $70 for a total of $415

·         Produced 522 toys so far this month for a total of 1,358 completed for the year.

·         Children’s Home Society of Florida will be the focused on for the next few months.

·         Toy catalog has been updated.
