Officer’s Reports:

President – Mike Borfitz

Special Projects: Special Projects have again been suspended until at least April 17 to try and catch up.  Walk-in simple cuts and sale of card holders and slant boards continue.  To that end, we have sent out a plea, via email “Help Wanted” for interested members willing to donate 4 hours a week to help Bernie keep up with these fast-moving objects.

Space Usage:  On Tuesday of this week representatives from maintenance, tool crib, member merchandise, turners, carvers, certification, toys and the wood shed met to investigate better ways to use space, especially storage space at the Club.  A number of good suggestions were agreed to.  One will include investing in some more shelving in the Wood Shed.  When the estimates are worked up for this project, I will bring them to the Board.

The Natural Edge Cherry Table:  The plaque for the natural edge table has been procured.  As soon as The Daily Sun does its story on this donation, Doug Sukeforth will transport the table to Maine.

Videotaping: We are pretty current with our videotaping projects.  Wayne Mederios has placed chapter markers in the turning videos that will allow the student to go directly to different spots on the video as he/she works to complete the Introduction to Turning quiz.  We are awaiting the finished quiz which Larnie Cross has agreed to create.

Club Historian: Murray Bishop has agreed to have Patty Porter serve as the historian for the club.

Vice President – Jim Spallone: No report.

Treasurer – Doug Parks: Financial Reports: Balance Sheet as of February 2017.  Total Liabilities and Equity $335,113.12 and Profit and Loss Budget vs. Actual for February 2017 – Net Income $5,929.37; Budget $3,865.83; Over Budget $2,063.54 and % of Budget 153.38%. Note: The Current Profit and Loss Statement is posted in the back office.

Other Reports

Office Administration – Anne Bell: See above introduction of Ted Goodman.

PR & IT – Mike Borfitz:  This year we’ve had 416 visitors in the shop. The two computers contained in this year’s capital budget have been purchased and will be used to upgrade the oldest computers and/or those exhibiting problems.  Good surge protectors and UPS’s are being installed.

Shop Maintenance/Administration – Dave Adamovich: The dual drum sander’s electrical control panel, which controls the thickness and how fast to run wood burned out.  The manufacturer has agreed to make a rheostat for this control panel at no cost to the club. Completion and delivery date is unknown, at this time.  Soap dispensers have been purchased and will be installed.

Toys – Conway Williams:  Year to date production is 1193 toys, shipping of 1341 toys with donation value of $9346.  Toy department is down four senior volunteers, which is hindering production.  We’ve met with the Children’s Home Society, since the new personnel have settled into place.  The new Director has already given us what they will need in 2018, since the State matches their funds.  President Mike Borfitz, at Conway’s request, gave ROMAC, who donates a good portion of wood to toys, Awards of Appreciation to their Plant Mgr., Central Plant Mgr., and Production Office.  At some point a new wall plaque will be made to give to ROMAC as well. Toys has ordered special “Toy Department” shirts for their volunteers to wear while selling toys on the Square and to all other events.

Special Projects – Hans Zassenhauss: Hans not in attendance.  See President’s report headed Special Projects.

Committee Updates:

Safety Committee – John Herega: No report.

New Business:  Sandy Fuller – Special Projects. Asked why the club is taking in so many special builds. Discussion, special builds are being taken in by only one person, Bob Thompson. Bob chooses to take these in himself and then donate all monies to the club.  By Bob doing this it’s leaving Special Projects shorthanded in completing repairs we do accept.  Presently Special Projects is behind because the senior volunteers are not able to give their time, due to health and home situations.  A “help wanted” email has been sent out, as for dedicated volunteers.   Bernie Harkins who heads up premade items, has someone working with him, at this time.

Conway Williams asked to discuss that last Resolution passed on 8-28-14 concerning monitor exemptions and the need to change them.  They need to add “at a manager’s discretion and the hours volunteered, exemption can be given to a member by the department manager”.  Conway will rewrite and present to the Board for consideration.

Bill McGinnis ~ housekeeping items, timely submission of agenda items and the need to be prepared for Board meetings.

Old Business:  None

Motion to adjourn the meeting made by John Herega and second by Frank Giaccone and unanimously approved by all.

Meeting adjourned at 7:55pm
